Hurt & Forbes Insurance Agency Holds Ribbon Cutting At New Court Street Office Building
Laconia, NH (November 30, 2006) – Hurt & Forbes Insurance Agency hosted an open house and Greater Laconia-Weirs Beach Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, November 30, 3pm at their new location at 155 Court Street in Laconia. The ribbon cutting event celebrated the completion of their new building’s construction, landscaping and new digital sign.
Hurt & Forbes Insurance is owned by Michael T. McCarthy of Gilford. Mike purchased the Agency from the founder, George Hurt, in 1998; and has continued to greatly expand the original client base, becoming a leading Lakes Region insurance agency, as well as adding a second location in Manchester. Mike purchased the land upon which the building now sits as part of his commercial purchase of the commercial structure formerly owned by Deborah Cheney- now occupied by Aubuchon Hardware, Little Caesars Pizza, and other businesses. “We thought the timing was right to make the move from the 957 Union Avenue location, where we have been located since 1991, and had outgrown that facility,” explained McCarthy. The move to the new location occurred on October 13, even though some of the finishing touches still remained undone.
The building was designed by Gary Brock of Laconia, with site work provided by John H. Lyman & Sons of Gilford and the majority of carpentry work provided by David T. Hill Builders of Franklin, NH. The building was designed to provide a more efficient traffic flow as well as a more spacious and open concept for clients as well as employees. “The positive reaction from clients and visitors has been very fulfilling” says McCarthy, as he served as his own general contractor during the entire construction project.
Also sharing space within the building, and closely associated with Hurt & Forbes Insurance, is LPL Financial Services – operated by Linda Knott, CFP. Linda has 20 years of financial planning experience and chose to affiliate with LPL as they are one of the largest organizations of independent financial advisors, with headquarters in Boston and San Diego. The Court Street location is a branch office and currently employs three fully-licensed securities and insurance brokers.
